Five Kids in Six Years, No Multiples. Our House is Always Crazy, Rarely Quiet, and Full of love.

Five Years Ago…

…I married the man of my dreams.

Our story, however, actually began 11 1/2 years ago. I really like telling our story, because it feels surreal – like a fictional book I would have on my bookshelf. It involves a boy admiring a girl from afar, and a girl admiring a boy from afar. Boy would remember the first time he saw girl, when her dad picked her up from school one afternoon. Girl would note that they both wore Cowboy Chaps for a Homecoming dress-up day (and boy wore them well – very well). A whole year later, boy would ask girl out & she’d turn him down – thinking the whole thing was a hoax – c’mon he was a Senior & the hottest guy in school; she was just a Sophomore. Oh yea, and she had a boyfriend (it apparently didn’t matter to girl that her boyfriend wasn’t loyal).

Over the next year, boy asked girl out again & again. They’d share a couple half-dances, and she’d hand him her disintegrated chewing gum, but girl always said “No”. Girl’s favorite part of the story: boy prayed for girl. After boy graduated high school, he told girl to call him if she ever broke up with her boyfriend. Fast forward a year, and girl sends boy email. Boy doesn’t respond. Girl sends boy another email & this time mentions that she’s single. Boy sends girl email within 24 hours. This begins an email friendship, as boy has moved a couple hours away.

It’s girl’s Senior year & she invites boy to her Fall Homecoming dance. Boy accepts, and they have their first date. Girl has wonderful time, but boy still lives a couple hours away, so they continue their email friendship. Girl gets pictures back from Homecoming Dance and is mortified at how photographer posed her – she looks pregnant! Girl’s Yearbook teacher tells her maybe the photo is predicting the future – to which girl says, “Well, not anytime soon!”

Boy comes back one more time that Fall for a casual movie date. In January, boy sends girl email that he’s moving back to town & attending local college. Girl is ecstatic! In February, they go to Red Lobster for their first date after the move. Boy orders stuffed mushrooms, girl eats stuffed mushrooms, only to tell boy on the way home that she doesn’t even like mushrooms. Boy & girl officially start their courtship.

There’s a lot more to the story, but fast forward 3 years and boy & girl get married.

Eleven months later, boy & girl have first baby: a girl.

Twelve months later, boy & girl have another girl.

Sixteen months later, boy & girl have a boy.

Now, five years after boy & girl get married, they are expecting another boy.

Girl can’t help but wonder how her Yearbook teacher knew…
